Keeping Children Safe

Drowning is the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages 1 to 14. Research has shown that participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning among children aged 1 to 4 years. (1).
SwimWay is the swimming school that does not use floatation aids in our swimming program. We believe the first step for a child learning to swim is to teach them to use their own buoyancy in the water, this way they can feel comfortable and confident as they develop their technique within the SwimWay methodology.

Swimming is well known to be an excellent activity at any age. Few other exercises can produce a full body workout with cardiovascular benefits while producing very little strain on the body. Being in water is also known to have mental health benefits and aids in relieving stress.(2). It has been shown that children who participate in sports show greater attention and get better results in schools.(3).
Taking weekly swimming lessons also help to set a child a weekly exercise routine and starts them off with a healthy lifestyle.

The UK gets an estimated 60 days of sunshine a year on average, but you can escape the bad weather by swimming inside. Our private indoor pools are all heated and kept to a minimum of 30˚C ; this is especially necessary when teaching babies or toddlers to swim.
Although swimming can be enjoyed outside, such as in our Sheen Mount Pool that we teach in during the summer. We have swimming lessons year round in all of our indoor London pools. Our terms follow the school year. During half terms and summer holidays we teach intensive half term holiday crash courses.
The majority of our pools are inside private houses. This not only adds to the privacy and exclusivity of our lessons but enables SwimWay to ensure all our facilities have the highest water quality.
