What Lessons Can I Book for a 2–3 Year Old?

Children between the ages of 2 and 3 are at an important stage of early swimming development. At SwimWay, we provide a range of lesson options aimed at building confidence, promoting water safety, and encouraging a love of swimming.

Parent & Baby Lessons (3 – 36 Months)

For children under 3 years old, our Parent & baby swimming lessons are a fantastic starting point. These sessions are designed for you and your child to enjoy the water together, helping them feel safe and supported as they begin to explore basic swimming movements.

With you by their side, your child can gradually build water confidence in a calm and reassuring environment. They will begin to learn essential safety skills while also developing coordination and early swimming techniques through play. These classes are ideal for nurturing trust and creating positive associations with the water from an early age.

1:1 Lessons for Ages 2–3

As your child approaches the age of 2, they may be ready for more independent learning. That’s why we offer 1:1 lessons for children aged 2–3 years.

These private sessions provide individual attention from a qualified instructor, allowing lessons to be tailored entirely to your child’s pace and needs. This focused approach helps support skill development, from floating to the early stages of swimming strokes, while also encouraging confidence and independence in the water.

What Happens After Age 3?

Once your child turns 3, even more options become available. You can choose between continuing with 1:1 lessons for personalised support or moving into 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4 lessons, where your child learns alongside another swimmer.

This flexibility allows you to select the environment that suits your child best, whether they benefit from individual focus or enjoy the social aspect of learning with a peer.

Choosing the Right Lesson

Every child is different, so the best choice depends on their confidence level, personality, and previous experience in the water. Children who are new or a little nervous may benefit most from the reassurance of Parent & Baby lessons. Those who are ready for more independence often thrive in 1:1 sessions, while confident and social children may enjoy progressing to 1:2 lessons from the ages of 3 years and above.
