Triathlon Technique Swimming Sessions

SwimWay is proud to offer triathlon technique swimming sessions every Friday morning at the Home Guard venue in East Sheen (SW14 8LA).

When: Friday mornings 7.00am – 7.45am (term-time only)

Correcting or improving technique in front crawl will be the emphasis of these these brand-new 1:10 group sessions.  They are perfect for anyone interested in training for, or are already competing in triathlons.  A mixture of drills and swimming sets will be utilised to help improve stamina & speed over longer distances.

Home Guard Head Coach & Site Manager David Ashton will be coaching these sessions:

David has taught and coached swimming for 18 years. Prior to joining SwimWay, he had a successful competitive swimming career in which he competed at the British National Championships 11 times and raced in the finals countless more. In 2004 and 2008, David competed at the Team GB Olympic Trials. In 2006 and 2010 he also competed in the Commonwealth Games Team England trials, and in 2017, the Masters World Championships. 2017 brought him a win for the Iron distance swim (3.8KM) in his age group at the London Serpentine race in a time of 43 minutes and 48 seconds. In 2018, he completed all three London Classics (London Marathon, RideLondon 100, and Swim Serpentine two-mile) and raised over £2,500.00 for charity. In more recent years, David has expanded his athletic interest beyond swimming and has competed in triathlons and open water swimming races. Racing in his first ever Iron Distance event (3.9KM swim, 180KM cycle and 42KM run) at Hever Castle, David won Gold overall. Later that same year, David went on to post the second fastest swim time at the Portugal Ironman 2022.
