Summer Term Health & Safety Training 2016
At the start of every term our SwimWay team attend health and safety training. This is far more regular than the required amount of safety training for swimming schools, and an important part of our culture here at SwimWay. For our Summer Term 2016 we have organised two days of training to ensure all our instructors have the opportunity to learn from our specialised health and safety consultant David Perry.
During our Summer 2016 training session our instructors were trained in Paediatric First Aid. Our team also discussed and rehearsed specific scenarios they may face including:
Effects of severe bleeding and shock
Treating asthma attacks
Signs and symptoms of Hyperventilation
Child and Infant CPR
Full effects of blood loss and treatment
Bumps and bruises
Treatment of broken/dislocated bones
As well as safety training, our staff received a presentation from Dan Pastor and Tamsin Watt about the SwimWay programme. They were introduced to new techniques developed through observations of our students by our senior instructors.
These sessions are part of what makes our team of instructors so strong. We believe that the training SwimWay provides, as well as the opportunity for feedback and discussion is the key to providing families with safe and rewarding swimming lessons.
A great swimming lesson has a huge impact on a child, and we are very proud to say our instructors are remembered by children who continue to swim and achieve far into the future.
